Voice lessons for folks who identify as members of the Trans Community! Depending on your goals this can look very different from person to person. Some common goal areas include:
becoming re-acquainted with your changing voice as part of the HRT process
learning how to utilize your voice in a way that is more gender affirming for you (while still being healthy for your body)
becoming comfortable using your singing voice in a safe and trans-friendly environmentÂ
Mel of Backwoods Music Therapy uses a music centered approach to voice work, but being a singer or having a "good" singing voice is NOT required to pursue these voice lessons!
Backwoods Music Therapy's owner/operator Mel Clark (they/them/theirs) identifies as part of the Trans Community and began providing Trans Voice Lessons after seeing a lack of Trans-Identifying providers offering these services. Mel has training in vocal techniques and vocal health as well as many years of experience as a professional vocalist. It is also important to recognize that vocal work can be a vulnerable experience and having someone who is apart of the community and approaching it from a therapeutic lense can be helpful. Reach out to Mel if you want to talk more about whether Trans Voice Lessons with Backwoods Music Therapy would be a good fit for you!
